Specializations

Editing a document, regardless of its word or page count, is a process that involves multiple stages. In each stage, the editor focuses on different aspects of the document. This makes it easier not only to edit but also to provide specific feedback.

While not all documents need to go through all the editing stages, it is helpful to know what each stage entails so that you can be clear about what specific services you need.

Some editors provide all the editing services, and other editors may provide only copyediting, formatting, and proofreading services. Here you can find details on what Nth Draft specializes in.

Manuscript Evaluation & Sample Edit

An evaluation of your fiction or non-fiction manuscript is highly recommended before going into any type of editing. This is a cover-to-cover reading of your manuscript. Based on this initial reading, the editor provides a 1-2-page evaluation that includeds stregnths, weaknesses, and points for improvement. This initial reading gives the editor an idea about your writing style and a clear scope of the work that's needed. Along with the evaluation, the editor also provides a sample edit (~5 pages). This give you , the writer, an idea about the editing style and what an edited draft looks like. This is the best way to determine if the writer and editor are compatible, because not every edirtor is suitable for every manuscript.
